Quilt Show
“Off the Wall and Under the Covers”
April 2009
The 2009 Show featured over 200 quilts, wall hangings, table runners and other quilt related items that were hung in two rooms at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre in east Mississauga. Visitors expressed their delight in the innovation and quality of workmanship of the displayed items, much to the pleasure of Guild members. Thank you to all of the members who loaned us their beautiful quilts for display.
Our pieced raffle quilt was won by a lady in the 416 area code, as was the table runner, while one of our own members won the wall hanging. Our raffle quilt remains popular and the raffle quilt for our next show is at the quilter’s so stay tuned.
Fifty mini quilts that were hung for viewing with an opportunity to win one via a tombola draw. The Member’s Boutique and Garage Sale was a busy place with excited quilters eager to get a bargain and add to their stash and library. Seven happy vendors displayed the latest in fabric trends, notions and books so visitors and MQG members were soon lining up to purchase the latest offerings.
After spending time viewing quilts and purchasing raffle tickets and merchandise, our Spring Garden tea room was a very popular meeting place to relax and visit with friends while enjoying the good food.
Another successful show has been put to bed with fond memories and eager anticipation of the 2013 Quilt Show. If you would like to help organize our next show, please contact us at president at mississaugaquiltersguild.ca.
